Oratorio della Compagnia della Santissima Trinità

SIENA

The oratory of the company of the Holy Trinity is a small church in via di Valdimontone, its current appearance is due to the reconstruction undertaken in the second half of the sixteenth century.

A true jewel of the Sienese art of that period, it presents itself as an extraordinary artistic fusion between painting and sculpture. On the high altar, decorated with stuccos by Cristofano Rustici, is the bronze Crucifix by Prospero Antichi known as the Bresciano.

On the lunettes and on the vault among stuccoes shaped by Prospero Antichi and Lorenzo Rustici, there are the frescoes depicting the Paradise and Scenes of the Apocalypse by Ventura Salimbeni.

The subsequent decorative interventions, with the Vittoria di Clodoveo on Alarico II on the counter-façade and the later one on the walls with episodes related to the Trinity, attributed to Giuseppe Nicola Nasini, are well integrated with the luminous tone of the church.

The oratory is owned by the Contrada di Valdimontone.
