The Group was founded in Siena Polyphonic Madrigalisti 1950 by
Count Guido Chigi, Siena, the great patron of the Italian music
scene, with the aim of promoting the spread of Italian and foreign
polyphonic music. The Academy Madrigalisti Chigiana, this is the
original name, was directed by the then famous Master Morosini and
financially supported by the Count, who organized the concerts and
charitable educational purposes. In 1960 he alternated the
direction of the Master Giustarini Jordan, who led the choir,
renamed simply Madrigalisti Senesi, for more than thirty years.
Since 1992 the management of the complex was taken over by the
Master Elizabeth Miralda.
The group specializes in the study of Renaissance polyphony, sacred and profane, but still dedicated to a diverse repertoire, ranging from Gregorian chant to the hymn, from the ancient classical polyphony, the choral romantic, modern and contemporary art.
Exclusively made up of amateurs, the choir has an intense concert and teaching activities, both in Italy and abroad. It is the Chapel Choir of the Basilica of San Domenico in Siena Catherinian, where he was a musical accompaniment to the more solemn ceremonies.
The Sienese Madrigalisti have toured festivals of Europe (Monaco and Garmisch in Germany, Landshut and Berlin, Barcelona and Madrid in Spain, in Corsica, Bastia and Calvi) and the United States of America, in New York. They also participated with great success at the International Choral Festival in Manila, the Philippines, as representative of Italy Choir. They are returning from a tour in France, made in November 2005, during which they received flattering by the audience and critics. He has participated in numerous festivals, including the International Festival of Barcelona, Bastia, Bordeaux, the Spoleto Festival, the Festival in Jesi in the Marches and the International Festival of Baroque Art in Genoa.
