DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION

The triptych depicts St. Michael the Archangel slaying the dragon and the Saints Bartholomew and Benedict. The work comes from the nearby Badia a Rofeno and was created by the renowned author of the frescoes of the Sienese painter Governance in the Public Palace of Siena, perhaps at different times.

 

In the cusps are represented: the Madonna and Child, Sal Louis of Toulouse and St. John the Evangelist. The rich wood frame carved, gilded and polychromed, now shown separately, was subsequently built and added to the '500 by Fra Raffaello da Brescia. Tempra on wood 258x230 cm. including the frame.
